I read email on my pc which thunderbird has downloaded from the gmail website, so it is right at my fingertips and doesn't require that I log into the website a few times a day to see if valid email is in the spam filter. Your first paragraph works for people who read gmail on the gmail website. If you are getting false positives and it is not due to filters you created, try this: As long as I have had Gmail, there have been zero false positives on spam but occasionally (very rarely) spam does slip through to my inbox. When I get spam, I then see and check the folder and then delete the spam without opening it. Pajamas wrote:I just have my Gmail spam folder set to be visible only there are unread messages. (I do my own spam filtering on my pc with thunderbird's customizable filters, and the result is right there for me to check with a click.)ĭoes anyone know how to disable gmail's spam filtering 100%? Various people on the web are trying to effectively turn off gmail's spam filter by creating filters to catch everything and move it to the gmail inbox, but they look dubious. The inbox contents are being moved to my pc by thunderbird. Of course, I moved it to the inbox but I really don't want to log onto the web every day and see if there are valid emails in the spam folder. My second day with gmail and already valid email is in the spam folder where gmail will automatically delete it after 30 days. Then I discover that gmail is spam filtering and there seems to be no way to turn spam filtering off. Their phone rep says they are in some conversion that may go on for months. Maybe also some outgoing email, I have no idea. So I switched to gmail because my ISP is in some email upheaval and I'm losing some incoming email.
